Review: Latta Kefir

What is Kefir?

This past summer I went to Europe and had the joys of trying out a popular dairy product, Kefir. Kefir has been associated with longevity and is a staple in a healthy European diet.

This differs from yogurt, because they both contain different kinds of bacteria. Keifer helps to conolize the gut while yogurt keeps it clean. They are both great additions to your diet, but I prefer Keifer.

Latta Kefir

I have tried numerous brands (Lifeway is mostly in the US) but recently I have tried the holy grail of all Kefir. Latta!
The texture is amazing, its not exactly like the normal drinkable kefir, and a little less thick then regular non fat yogurt. Latta also uses natural strawberry sweetener and it is overall not super sweet which i really appropriate. There is also only 70 calories in a container! I purchased mine at my local gourmet food market but you can always check on the website to see if it is available near you.
I had the strawberry one :) It was $1.00 for 1!

Review: Trader Joe's Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte Mix

Do you LOVE Starbuck's PSL (Pumpkin Spice Latte)? Trader Joe's started offering an instant powdered form of Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte.

At $3.99 for 10oz, this tub makes around 8 servings. All you have to do is add boiling water! It can be served iced as well.

Now the flavor is definitely pumpkin but I'm not sure how well it goes with the chai. I am not a fan of the flavor at all.
The main ingredient is sugar and a serving has a 140 drinkable calories. Horrible nutritional value. There is a couple of grams of protien and fiber but so much sugar it's not worth it.

This stuff also does not dissolve well.  It takes FOREVER to mix in. Also if you wanted to use milk instead of water its even worse. I wish TJ would come out with a pumpkin latte without the chai! I would not repurchase this again, however if you like the flavor then its way cheaper than getting a latte from Starbucks! Plus you can have it all year long.
